Low Poly Treasure Chest (Update #1)

Chest Model.fw

This is my current progress on a treasure chest model that I am designing to fit within a game environment. I have made it so that the polygon count for the object is very low, so the engine would be able to handle it with ease.

This was a very easy and simple model to make, but the online tutorial I used helped me learn techniques on how to deal with topology a lot better, as well as a few other new modelling techniques for shapes I had not used before, such as the handles on each side of the chest.

As well as the Blue Falcon model mentioned in another post, this model cannot be continued until I learn how to effectively texture a 3D model using Maya.

“Blue Falcon” Racer (Update #1)

This is an ongoing personal project in which I am challenging myself to recreate my own version of the Blue Falcon racing machine from the video game series “F-Zero”. The images I have provided show the model in its basic form and a low quality coloured render to give an impression of what the final model will look like. Click an image to see a larger version.

The final challenge I face before I consider the model to be complete is that it needs texturing appropriately. I need to find the time to learn how to UV unwrap and map textures to 3D models correctly in Maya, as I currently have difficulty with that part of modelling.
